I really like it to sit on the rooftop of the Hotel Delfin in Barra de Navidad and read in my book. In the morning there is some shade and the comfortable sunchairs invite to make a short nap. Also the view is spectacular because on one side you can see the lagoon and on the other side you can watch the famous sunsets of Barra de Navidad.

Yesterday we went out fishing just before sunset! We caught four big Crevalle Jacks just a few kilometers out of Barra de Navidad! Back at the Hotel Delfin we prepared them with fresh lemon, soya sauce and chili! Delicious Sashimi!!!

Costa Alegre is filled with little roadside stands, displaying their goods for sale. The photo is of one I found between Barra de Navidad and Cihuatlan. You can find local fruits, breads, candies and more. The smiling propietors will offer you samples of Ponche, a local drink in many different flavors (contains a little alcohol). I also suggest you try Cajeta, a condensed goat milk that makes a caramel-like treat that will make your taste buds dance. The treat is traditionally packaged in a little wooden box that make great gifts for friends back home.
These markets are a perfect way to feel completely immersed in the Mexican culture while not putting a strain on your wallet!

The Chili Cook-Off on Sunday was a fun gathering of the Barra de Navidad community. The best chili & best salsa awards were given, live music rang through the plaza and dancers from different states in Mexico came to perform their traditional dance in traditional dress. Overall the day was another reminder of how alive Barra de Navidad remains!

Just a short ride from Barra de Navidad is Cuastecomates, a small beach tucked deep into the bay. The position acts as a shield from the wind, making it a perfect spot for relaxing, snorkeling, swimming and sunbathing. The best snorkeling can be found at the reef on the south side of the bay. Some people use the area for hiking as well. There are a few small restaurants lining the beach and you will find vendors selling local Mexican goods up and down the stretch. Often pelicans retreat to this area and have their dinner just feet away from the swimmers so prepare yourself to share the waters with our winged amigos! If you are visiting the Costa Alegre area you cannot miss Cuastecomates.

Begin your day with a peaceful alignment of body and soul in Barra de Navidad. Hotel Delfin is now offering Yoga classes on the rooftop terrace overlooking the ocean and sleepy town. Classes are every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 8am - 9am. All experience levels are welcome.

Barra de Navidad is buzzing this week. You will find a mix of locals from surrounding towns and foreigners from all over the world as well. Although you will hear many different languages spoken, there is one evident commonality: everyone is here to enjoy the sun, delicious food and peaceful ocean. We have a full house of smiling guests this week at Hotel Delfin. We look forward to ringing in the New Year with our hotel 'family'!
